Występowanie |

Rodzaj obejmuje gatunki występujące w Afryce^[3].

Długość ciała 12–18 cm, masa ciała 12–36 g^[4].

Greckie βραδυς bradus – wolny, powolny; ορνις ornis, ορνιθος ornithos – ptak^[5].
