I want my code for my README.md to be inputted into my pdf document made by LaTeX and for it to have code highlighting. Is there any way minted can be modified to be used for markdown. I want the code inputted with syntax colours, not the rendered form. Is that possible?

I have tried setting the language as minid and raw. But it doesn't look nice. Currently, I am using html as the minted language. Would be nice if markdown can be supported by adding some code to the document
