I am writing my thesis on a old style file (Latex2.9 i guess) that has the following preamble,
documentstyle[12pt,epsfig,EMU_Thesis_ikeV2,amsmath,times,enumerate,tikz,booktabs,slashbox,subfigure,microtype,caption]{report}
Now , i'm required to update the page margin with the following measurments:
top & bottom: 2.5 cm, left: 4cm and right: 2.5 cm.
In the style file there is a part as a page setup:
oddsidemargin 1.6cm
evensidemargin 2cm
topmargin -1.3cm
headheight20pt
textwidth 153mm
textheight 249mm
pagestyle{myheadings}
When I compile, I don't get the exact desired margin!
I tried to use geometry package but as I insert usepackage{geometry}
, it gives an error related to unsupported package!
Can you give me a way to get around with the problem?
I appreciated your help.

You have. Go to the person in charge, say "This is a fairly old style file, based on an outdated version of LaTeX, which isn't supported any longer. May I introduce a new template based on up to date packages and LaTeX-version -- perhaps which looks quite like the old one?". And there you go...

For a bit more about the page dimensions and how you might accomplish what you need withoutgeometry
you might take a look at the wikibook.
